Earlier this month, the Empowered Together team was proud to launch our new brand. The new brand is a cumulation of many, many months of work by our marketing team. It is also a testament of collaboration between teams including the operations team, school team and legal team.
In the three years since our founding, Empowered Together has grown significantly. We have educated thousands of students on their rights and responsibilities in sex and relationships and given them the practical tools to ask for and understand consent. We have had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of schools, universities, community groups and partner organisations.
As a result of its growth and change, the executive committee decided that it was time for a new brand. We wanted something that reflected our organisation as it stood now, allowing for consistency and clear recognition. We wanted a brand that was professional but fun and relatable for the young students we work with. With this in mind, Empowered Together wanted to ensure the brand still accorded with Empowered Together’s original purpose: to prevent sexual violence through peer-led education.
We wanted a brand that reflected our key values which remain – led by young people for young people, inclusive of all genders and individuals and optimistic that we can see a decrease in the prevalence of sexual violence in our generation. Now more than ever, in the MeToo era, we believe in the power of education to prevent sexual violence and challenge the culture which accepts gender inequality and victim blaming. This is continuously reiterated in our workshops with inspiring and driven young people.
Ultimately, our new brand is for the young people we have worked with and the young people who drive this organisation. It is for the organisations we have learnt from and collaborated with.
But most of all, our brand is for all the individuals Empowered Together will educate in the future as we look forward.
We would like to thank freelance graphic designer Louise Walker (https://louisewalkerdesign.com/) for her amazing work creating the graphical elements of the brand and all our fantastic volunteers who worked so hard on our rebrand.
